This Saturday is shaping up to be a beautiful day for flying, but it’s also going to be very hot with plenty of direct sunshine.

If you’re bringing foam aircraft, please consider bringing a pop-up canopy, sun shelter, reflective cover, or even a simple bed sheet or blanket to keep your models shaded when they’re not in the air.

Many foam aircraft can be affected by prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Excessive heat can lead to:

✈️ Warped foam surfaces
✈️ Softened glue joints
✈️ Damaged decals and paint
✈️ Canopies and plastic parts deforming
✈️ Increased battery temperatures

A $10 sheet from the linen closet is far better than leaving your aircraft baking in the Tennessee sun all day!

We also encourage everyone to bring:

💧 Plenty of water
🧴 Sunscreen
🧢 A hat and sunglasses
⛺ A pop-up shelter if you have one

Let’s keep both our pilots and our airplanes cool so we can enjoy a full day of flying.

See everyone Saturday at the field! ✈️☀️
