Real Progress You Can See
There are two kinds of days at the field—flying days and work days.
Today was the latter, and it’s one of the most important days we have all year.
The Tennessee Eagles RC Flying Club held its annual work day, and the turnout alone set the tone. Over a dozen members showed up ready to get after it—no planes, no distractions, just a clear objective: make the field better than we found it.
And that’s exactly what happened.
A Full Day of Real Work
This wasn’t a light cleanup. This was a full-scale reset of the field.
Fence posts were painted, giving the perimeter a clean, finished look again. Along with that, a brand-new orange safety fence was installed—high visibility, professional, and a major upgrade for both safety and appearance.
A new flagpole was delivered and staged, setting the groundwork for another improvement that will add a sharp, finished touch to the field.
Brush and tree removal was tackled in a big way. Areas that had started to creep in and close things off were cleared back, opening up sightlines and reclaiming usable space. It’s one of those changes that immediately makes the field feel bigger and more maintained.
The entire area was mowed and cleaned up, giving us a smooth, consistent surface heading into prime flying season.
Bringing the Field Back to Life
The work didn’t stop at the flight line.
The shelter and bleachers got a full pressure washing, stripping away dirt, grime, and weathering. What was starting to look tired now looks sharp and well cared for again.
Shelter posts were repainted, tightening up the overall look and reinforcing the sense that this is a field we take pride in.
And of course, there was a thorough round of general trash removal—the unglamorous but absolutely necessary part of keeping a field in top condition.
The Kind of Work That Matters
None of this is flashy. There’s no applause for mowing grass or hauling brush.
But this is the work that makes every great flying day possible.
It’s the difference between a field that’s just “usable” and one that you’re proud to bring people to. The kind of place where everything feels intentional, maintained, and ready.
Strong Turnout, Strong Club
Having over a dozen members show up and put in a full day’s work says everything you need to know about this club.
That’s commitment.
That’s ownership.
That’s what keeps the Tennessee Eagles not just running—but improving year after year.
Ready for the Season
By the end of the day, the transformation was obvious.
Cleaner. Safer. Sharper. More professional.
The field is ready.
Now it’s time to enjoy it.
Let’s go fly. ✈️
